Safer Schools Officer

Northfield School are fortunate to have strong links with Thames Valley Police, through the Safer Schools Officer.

PC Russell Massie attends Northfield once per week to discuss any issues that may be affecting the students, either in school or at home. PC Massie’s role is to support students, parents and staff in a variety of ways. Many students request to talk with PC Massie about issues, and often PC Massie is able to form a link between the police, students, their parents and other external agencies.  PC Massie also offers to the school a number of other supportive measures such as:

  • Restorative Approaches meetings
  • Post exclusion back to school meetings
  • Anti-bullying talks
  • Gun and knife crime talks
  • Drugs awareness talks
  • Hub referrals.

This is an important role and one which staff, parents and students value highly.  PC Massie is based at St Aldates Police Station, Oxford.
