At Northfield School we believe it is essential that our students are given the opportunity to express their opinions about their school, to be heard and to be taken seriously.  We want students, and believe students to be an integral part of the development of the school and subsequently involved in the vision of the school.

Northfield School Council offers students the opportunity to get together on a termly basis in order to discuss ideas and opinions, create action plans and they are then given the chance to implement their ideas across the whole school.

Students from each year group are elected to be a member of the School Council and attend meetings once a term. It is the responsibility of the School Council member to speak to their year group and gather any suggestions or concerns and put them forward at these meetings.

Recent changes the Northfield School Council has implemented include:
  • Changes to the activities offered during Privileges.
Lego, fitness, darts and pool are now offered.
  • Changes to the food and drink offered at Tuck Shop.
A wider range of healthy and tasty snacks are now available
  • Changes to options available for school lunches.
Apple juice, pears and oranges have been added as an option choice at lunch time.
Becoming a member of the Student Council is a very sought after and common aspiration for pupils at Northfield School, and is indicative of the ‘sense of belonging’ that we hope each boy shares with us. The positive contributions made by the pupils serving the School Council are recognised and celebrated by all those involved with Northfield School and are rightly considered an extremely vibrant and successful aspect of our community.
